Nilsen Capshaw
Consultant
Linnea Nilsen Capshaw, an experienced
consultant, brings experience with development of primary
care, multispecialty clinics and physician practice
to the Bowen and Briggs team. Her recent work includes:
Facilitation
of physician practice reengineering using a structured
process of business
planning, training and implementation of successful
practice operational strategies
Redesign initiatives for ambulatory clinics, pharmacy,
radiology, laboratory and business
office in adult and
children’s facilities
Consultant for the NACHRI FOCUS Group Initiative,
working for two years with Ambulatory groups. The
groups
have developed the following outcomes: "Practice
Opportunities" related to streamlining patient
flow; the initial stage of an Ambulatory Productivity
Database; models for marketing and for providing
team incentive compensation; and initial work
in ambulatory
case management and outcomes
Development of team-based structures to maximize
productivity, profitability and quality
Extensive multidisciplinary group facilitation and
team building
Development and implementation of cross-training
programs and team building skills
Leadership of strategic planning projects
Linnea has assisted physicians and
major health care systems to become market leaders and/or
maintain their market position. She has facilitated
practice re-engineering and team-based structures to
maximize productivity, profitability and quality.
In addition, Linnea worked with a variety
of clinics during her tenure as Executive Director of
the Benjamin Franklin Clinic, Philadelphia, PA, as well
as in her consulting practice. Representative clinics

care practice work with pediatrics, inner city community-based
primary health clinics, family
practice and obstetric and gynecology practices
Specialty care clinics including neonatology, cardiology,
neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics
and emergency
medicine
Linnea received her Master’s in Hospital
and Health Administration from the University of Iowa,
Iowa City, IA. She served as Assistant to the Chief
Executive Officer at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield,
MA, and subsequently as Associate Vice President, Physician
and Patient Services, at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia,
PA.
